Tavern Time

What looked just like any other tavern from the outside, gave us quite a pleasant surprise once entered into. A large open area, semi-sheltered and with braai (Barbecue) facilities. Inside was a different atmosphere with South African football on the TV being watched by a few locals and a large open area that one would imagine would be used for standing when the tavern gets full. The last thing that stood almost isolated on the one side of the open spaced room, was the bar counter, and like always, had a large security protection gate across it.

We placed our order for four quarts of Black Label at a price of R9.50 (under US$1) and sat ourselves down on some crates outside and felt somewhat more relaxed than normal in a place of very foreign nature. We left with smiles on our faces at the very pleasant and somewhat quaint tavern we found rahter unexpectedly.
